- Anthony Gardner, Hull City AFC Footballer, November 2008

Dear Lily, please see the testimonials below!! (November 2007) abbeyrunners

“I think she’s the best I’ve come across for muscular injuries.  As soon as she hit it, after one session, I knew I was getting better and, after three sessions, it was cured!“ - John Ward, Abbey Runners, Leeds

“For muscular problems, it hurts but it works!”   - Mike Ayers, Abbey Runners, Leeds

“I hadn’t been able to run because of injury for a year and Lily got me back racing after only a week or so. I love running and so I have so much to thank her for.”  - Stella Cross, Abbey Runners, Leeds

“I have found Lily’s sports massage invaluable whilst training for a marathon. It helped keep me injury-free and run a good race. I believe that my good performance on the day was a result of both the training and Lily! After the marathon, I was back out running within a couple of days and my legs felt great. Lily’s sports massage and her advice has definitely helped keep me injury free. I highly recommend her Direct D-Stress!”

Trapped nerves - “I was born with Spina Bifida, which has resulted in various problems from muscular to skeletal and with the numerous associated mobility pains. I visited Lily for an appointment and I can only say that I came away feeling absolutely incredible. This young lady’s professionalism and care from the moment I entered her consulting room was outstanding. Lily’s depth of knowledge, care and understanding are to the very highest standards ever. Lily’s treatment from the very beginning started to make me feel so much better, and by the end of my first treatment I can genuinely say I felt that like I had never had any problems at all!”

William E. Clack, Procurement Specialist, Harrogate, January 2005

"Dear Lily, my back was so painful I could scarcely move, or even walk. You eased the pain considerably at the first appointment and the exercises you gave me to do at home took just 8 minutes, twice a day. 3 more sessions of massage and not only has the back pain been alleviated but the 4-year stiffness in my neck and shoulders has also improved.  As long as I do the exercises, I am pain free!

I hobbled to see you as a bent 60-year old and left with a spring in my step! Thank you!”

Marcia Martell, School Secretary, University of Leeds , October 2008

Muscle strain - “After a very frustrating and painful season with hamstring problems I went to see Lily. She quickly found the root of the problem and after just a week of treatments had me running again. The improvement to my hamstrings has been great and I'm now looking forward to a new season with new legs!”

Andy Irving, Halifax RUFC, May 2006

“I dislocated a vertebra following a particularly bad tackle playing rugby.  I went to see various sports physiotherapists over the next 8 months and although they had relocated the vertebra, the muscles around the injury had been in spasm for such a long time that I had been left in constant pain.  The physiotherapists did what they could to alleviate this but I was unable to lift my own body to even get out of bed without feeling a sharp pain down my back. The physiotherapists said that this was something I would have to learn to live with.

My brother put me in touch with Lily and I have to admit, I was cynical.  I had three one-hour sessions with Lily over three days which left me completely pain free.  For the first time in 8 months I was able to do sit-ups and get out of bed without any pain.  I honestly thought that I would never be able to play rugby again but, thanks to Lily, I have started training and I am looking forward to the new season.  Thanks Lily!"

Chris Irving, Halifax RUFC, June 2006

“After a 14 mile road race left me with intense back pain, Lily got me going again for a 45 mile hill challenge 6 days later with only 2 sport massage treatments. She helped me fulfil my dream. Thank you, Lily!”

Robin Davidson, Senior Engineer, Leeds, April 2004

"I suffered recurring muscle tears to my left calf over a period of a year, a problem that kept me off work for 5 weeks on the first occasion, 3 weeks on the second, and that prevented me from participating in any sports. I went to Lily at Direct-D-Stress; she immediately located the source of the problem, and set to work on eradicating it.

Through a combination of 4 sessions with her, and following her advice in-between times on exercise and self-treatment, I was able to make a rapid recovery and get back to light training in preparation for more rigorous sports within only 2 weeks."

Ross Bennett, Musician, York, March 2006

"Thank you so much Lily, for your treatment to my lower back. I have been suffering from excruciating pain in my lower back for about 5 weeks and although your therapy was painful at times, it certainly was very effective and for this I am truly grateful to you since I am now pain free after 3 sessions' injury treatment!"

Susan Alexander, HR Recruitment & Administrative Co-ordinator, University of Leeds, July 2007

"I found the experience of Direct D-Stress absolutely wonderful. Having had lower back pain and stiffness for several weeks I did not expect a few sessions to make such a difference but my movement improved almost immediately. The structured set of stretches to complete in between sessions also helped and were similar to exercises that NHS physios had given me some years before. I certainly felt the deep tissue massage helped speed up my recovery.  It was also a very relaxing experience and I would recommend message sessions even if you don't have aches and pains to fix."

Jacqui Brown, Head of International Office, University of Leeds, August 2007

Sprained ligament -

"After injuring my shoulder 3 years ago and losing my range of movement, I couldn't understand why it hadn't healed after time.  Being a professional dancer, it was becoming a major problem as I was in pain after each time I performed.  Should I rest, stretch or excercise it?......I just didn't know what to do.

I came across Lilys website and went to see her.  She really listened carefully to what I had to say and we discussed the problem in detail.  Immediately she set out to find the root of the injury.....she explained that in order for my shoulder to heal, the scar tissue needed breaking down.  After a few sessions she found four areas of damage and started healing each one.  She gave me exercises inbetween sessions and within 3 weeks all the areas had healed.  I'm so relieved and happy, I can finally train and perform pain free....and also have all my range of movement back!

The thing that impressed me the most about Lily, is she could answer all my questions in an easy to understand way, giving me absolute confidence in her knowlegde and expertise.  She's very thoughtful to your needs, her sessions are thorough and extremely effective!  Thanks so much Lily!"

http://www.bgirl-firefly.co.uk jean danceAndrea Parker, Professional breakdancer (2006 European Champion), Leeds, July 2007

“I dislocated my shoulder in January and after manipulation and physio regained movement I still had painful tissue damage that I was informed could take up to 12 months to heal. The injury meant that even jogging was painful and any weights out of the question. After 3 sessions with Lily, I am pain free (can even sleep on my right side!) and am now doing intensive anaerobic exercise and (light) weights to rebuild wasted muscle. Thanks Lily!”

Allen Hird, Driving Instructor, Leeds, June 2004

“Lily was a great find! I had been suffering from an injury to my leg for sometime, though I had previously had some physiotherapy it was still no better so I decided to give Lily’s sports massage a try. After only two sessions I no longer had any pain and was able to get back to training more intensely. It was such a relief to get treatment that really worked!”

Sarah Spearing, Assistant Manager, Conference Centre, Leeds, May 2004

"I have had a major injury in my leg and back which I have had treatment for over many years, without much success. Many therapists can ease the problem but not fully treat it. It is difficult to find a masseuse who has the skills in different massage techniques to treat such a difficult and persistent injury. Working at the university and having been a member of the gym for many years, I had heard about Direct D-Stress as I was looking for someone locally who could perform deep tissue massage.

I found Lily very easy to get along with and that she wasn't afraid to tackle a difficult problem area. She provides a complete range of services to cater to any type of problem, which also includes suggestions for out-of-hours treatments that you can perform yourself to help aid recovery. After seeing her for a month, my injury had recovered to such an extent that I could easily return to my previous level of exercise and activity. I have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone who has a sports or general muscular injury!"

Dr. Steven Pickering, Information Systems Services, University of Leeds, August 2007

"I had been suffering from a hamstring injury for almost a year and all usual physio treatments had been unsuccessful. After only 4 sessions of Chinese Physio-Massage treatments from Lily, I can now run pain free, and have been able to train and complete to a higher level. Lily provides a great injury specialist services, and I highly recommend her treatment. Thanks Lily!"

Tom V Rossum, Fitness Instructor, University of Leeds Sports Centre, June 2008

"The treatment I undertook with Ling was extremely effective. She treated an inflammation I had on my hip-flexor, which had been causing me pain on and off for the last 10 years, after I suffered an injury in that area. Ling quickly identified the cause of the problem and, through a series of massage sessions over 4 weeks’ time, completely removed the pain. I would recommend Direct D-Stress to anyone suffering from soft tissue (muscle/ligament) problems!"

“I was left with a lot of bruising and pain from having badly hurting my back in a bus accident. After I continued to feel a lot of pain and struggled to get out of bed even a couple of months after the accident, I decided to pay Lily a visit. I found her massages very relaxing and soothing. Together with her advice on exercising and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the pain I was suffering was alleviated. I continue to visit lily fairly regularly for the benefit I feel from having the sessions.”

Jon Bridgewater, Paralegal, Eversheds Solicitors, Leeds, April 2007

"I started to have massage with Lily a couple of months ago. Her massage is relaxing and powerful, after a massage with Lily you will find you have all the energy you need. I have been to several masseurs in the past and Lily is the best.

She is fantastic. If you play sport like me, you will find her performance very good. I had back pain, but now it is better and I feel like a new man. She is also a very good listener, really professional and friendly. I recommend her massage to everybody, and hope you will enjoy it as well as I do."

Ben Jost, Automotive Engineer, Halifax, September 2004

"I contacted Lily because of long-standing pain (5-6 years) in my shoulder and back, and she immediately recommended a course of deep tissue massage and a personal exercise plan. Although a little uncomfortable at the time, I'm sure the short-term pain will lead to long-term gain in terms of my future physical condition. After just four sessions of massage my pain has reduced significantly, and I am sure this is due to Lily's expert treatment!"

Mike Bellhouse, RDDirect Project Manager, School of Healthcare, University of Leeds, January 2008

"I had been suffering with sciatica for several months which was being treated unsuccessfully by my GP with anti-inflammation drugs. I also had problems with muscular damage to my back from a series of lifting accidents sustained whilst nursing ten years ago. Sadly I had shoulder and neck pain which seemed to link to the pins and needling of my fingers.

I was referred to Ling Li by a friend. After consultation, Ling pointed out all those problems on my right side including sciatica are resulted from my 10 years old accidental back injury! Having worked on that, within a few sessions my back and sciatica began to improve significantly. Shoulder and neck are fine and pins and needling on my fingers are gone.

After a month of treatment my sciatica is totally gone and I have no pain in my back and hip and leg.  I am very grateful for these serious improvements in what seemed like a chronic problem that I had resigned myself to living with! This is all due to Ling’s specialist skills."

Knee Injury

"Lily has healing hands! I have suffered on and off with an injury to my right knee for many years. I limped into Lily's treatment room at a time when my knee was particularly sore. After just one session the pain in my knee had eased considerably and had virtually disappeared by the following day. The combination of effective massage and applying heat has worked wonders for this problem. I strongly recommend Lily and her extremely effective sports massage therapy."

David Dixon, Central Timetabling Officer, University of Leeds, March 2007

"Amazing! Over a year ago I tore the MCL ligaments in my knee and did damage to my cartilage, after nearly a year out from playing top level Hockey and visits to many different physiotherapists, who told me I would have to live with the pain, I found Lily and after 6 sessions the pain has gone! I am looking to start training again over summer and start the new season with a new passion for the game after thinking I may never play at a high level again! Its all thanks to Lily’s healing hands! Highly recommended!"

Jaspal Panesar, National League Hockey Player, June 2007

"For over a year I have experienced a dull aching pain near my right knee. If ever I ran the pain would intensify and after long walks the aching would return. I have had three sessions with Lily. In the first session Lily examined the problem to determine what area of the knee needed attention and then set about working on the knee and giving a series of exercises to perform to aid with the treatment. The treatment concentrated on the ligaments near my knee. Each session lasted a full hour and was never rushed. After the first session I could feel the benefits as the aching although present was reduced. The second session three days later reduced the aching by over half.

Between the second and third session I went on family holiday which resulted in walking a very lot around the cobbled streets. The pain never returned. Due to the long activity in walking I decided upon a further session. This massage session like the others was specific to my knee area.  After the session the knee and leg feels loose and NO aching. The sports massage Lily performed together with the exercise plan Lily advised has helped my knee incredibly. Thank you Lily!"

Ross Fullwood, Director & Contracts Manager, Pontefract, West Yorkshire, April 2007

"Wonderful! I tried the 15 min energising chair massage which was really good and I felt so relaxed, especially when she worked on my neck and shoulders. Lily is extremely professional. She helped me get back to training with a sports massage after I strained my knees and was hobbling around.  I've been able to do my workout as good as usual since then. I really appreciate it."

Tennis Elbow

"After many years of racquet sports my doctor diagnosed tennis elbow on my left elbow. His basic prescription was to wear a therapeutic band around my upper forearm to reduce the tension on the ligaments around the joint. This worked to a point but I had to wear the band while playing or using the arm, I also had to continue with anti-inflammatory drugs.

A friend of University of Leeds mentioned Chinese Physio Massage Therapy with Lily and the fact that it had worked on an ankle ligament problem he had suffered from. I decided to give Lily a try and after three treatment sessions over 2 weeks I have felt massive benefits, to the point where I have no need to use drugs to control the pain and no longer use the armband at all.

I cannot praise Lily’s skill and her professional attitude enough, and would recommend anyone with a muscular, ligament or deep tissue problem to give her a try!"

Whiplash Injury

"Dear Lily, I just want to thank you for helping me with my neck and back problems that I have suffered with for years now. As you know the problem was from five car accidents and required a lot of work and with your help for the first time I can move my neck freely and without discomfort. This is something that alternative therapists had not been able to achieve. I am eternally grateful!"

Alex Brittain, Account Manager of Resource Print Solutions, Septermber 2007

“I had a whip lash injury that left me with pain and stiffness in my neck and upper back. After 4 sessions with Lily and doing the recommended stretches in between I was back to normal in 2 weeks! You can really feel the muscles being worked on. We also had really interesting conversations that helped to take my mind off the painful bits!”

Sue Welch, Senior Lecturer, Leeds Metropolitan University, June 2007

"A car accident I had in November 2006 resulted in a whiplash and one of the problems I had was a very stiff neck and painful shoulder for about 4 months. I visited Lily after colleagues recommended her to me and through four sessions over 2 weeks the stiffness problem in the neck and pain in the shoulder really improved. I am feeling much better now and more relaxed! "

RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) Treatment

“I have had RSI (or an RSI-like condition) for approximately three years, apparently due to long periods of intensive computer use (especially keyboard and mouse).  At its worst, my condition involved stiffness, pain and altered sensation in my right hand, fingertips, wrist and forearm to such an extent that I was not able to hold a pencil or toothbrush comfortably.  My GP was not able to offer well-informed or helpful treatment, though I was eventually referred to a physiotherapist in a local hospital, who treated the condition with ultrasound and a wrist splint.  That treatment, combined with rest from keyboard use (and shifting my mouse-use to my left hand) reduced the worst of the symptoms, though it left me with constant background pain in my hand and forearm.  For this reason, I looked into treatment of RSI at Direct D-Stress and eventually booked twice-weekly sessions over a period of five weeks.   After treatments for my RSI at Direct D-Stress, I can confidently say that the level of background pain and discomfort, especially in my palm and forearm, is very much reduced.  After each treatment my hand, wrist and arm feel comfortable, relaxed and 'light' and, although the discomfort returns when I am forced to type a lot, my level of 'general background pain' when I stop typing is much lower. Ling has also recommended exercises for my hands and wrists which have been very beneficial, too. I will not hesitate to recommend treatment from Direct D-Stress.”

Mark Nelson, Head of Philosophy School, University of Leeds, July 2006

“Working on computer long hours every day resulted in my stiff neck and tight shoulders (too tight to turn). It’s a form of RSI, causing increasing tension and pain. Having tried various conventional and alternative therapies, I felt very little improvement. I consulted Lily, and her magic hands immediately relieved a lot of the tension. Two more sessions provided me with extensive relief from both pain and tension throughout the problem area. I can sleep well now and focus far less on my condition during my work! You are fantastic, Lily!”

Robyn Cha, York University Student, June 2005

“I’m writing to thank you for the massages over the last few months. I was really concerned that I had serious inflammation in my arm and shoulder which would require extensive medical treatment. I am very happy to report that after your careful massage the inflammation and the pain went away and although I have to return the arm gradually to normal use it is very much better. I also appreciate the set of exercises you gave me which have been very helpful in strengthening my back and shoulders. I will certainly recommend your treatment to my colleagues and friends!”

Sciatica Therapy

"I have had sciatica for some years now, and have tried all kinds of therapy including chiropractors and osteopaths and these have provided limited benefits. The only therapy I have found which has got to the root cause of the problem has been deep tissue massage from Direct D-Stress, and the holistic approach taken has had fast and lasting results. I feel like a different person, and I’m getting back on with my life again without overwhelming pain.

For anyone with a similar problem, I cannot recommend Direct D-Stress highly enough."

Dylan Sunter, Life Coach & Hypnotherapist, Leeds, January 2007

"I had been suffering with sciatica for several months which was being treated unsuccessfully by my GP with anti-inflammation drugs. I also had problems with muscular damage to my back from a series of lifting accidents sustained whilst nursing ten years ago. Back & Shoulder Massage

"Having suffered from an increasingly stiff and sore neck and shoulders I was losing sleep and finding myself unable to concentrate at work. I booked in to have a massage to sort this out. The first session was very relaxing and started to ease the problem. I booked a follow up session to target the worst areas. I asked Lily to 'go for it - as deep and hard as needed'. This second session sorted me out, and by using the stretching methods I was shown I haven't had a reoccurrence of the problem."

Philip Yorke, Senior Duty Manager, Leeds University Sports Centre, March 2007

"After having a recurring problem with my shoulder I sought help from Lily.  I can say that after my first session with her I felt pure bliss. The pain had dramatically diminished, I had increased movement in my shoulder and I felt energised, relaxed and calm.Lily's hands truly work wonders!"

Karen Winstanley , Administrator, University of Leeds, May 2007

"I was experiencing some bad shoulder pains when I found Lily via the internet and decided to give her a try. I felt a difference even after the first session. Even got some 'homework' in the form of exercises to help things along. By the end of 3 sessions, I was well on my way to recovery and I have kept up therapeutic exercises to help my shoulders in the long run. I would recommend Lily anytime."

Rhonda Cowie, University of Leeds Student, May 2007

"I have been a client of Lily’s for around a year now and have recommended her to any of my friends who would listen. The work that she does is fantastic!"

Bano Mutuja, Senior Associate, Vis-à-vis Research Consultancy, April 2005

"Recently I called to say that my back was really sore and had been all day. My first visit to Lily was part of my Mothers Day present from my husband and my daughters. The massage was so relaxing that afterwards when I went to my daughters gymnastic competition I found it extremely difficult to stay awake! After massaging my back I went home feeling a little bit better. The following morning the pain had gone! Thank you Lily.  From then on I have been visiting Lily regularly."

Head & Neck Massage

"Straight after the oriental head massage session, I felt some deep relaxation from the back of my head to my eyes and nose. I felt a little dizzy but it made me sleep like a real kid that night. It's as if something was blocked for a long time and suddenly opened after half an hour head massage!"

Ali, University of Leeds Student, May 2007

"Amazingly good! I had a seriously stiff neck which resulted from bad sleep. Lily helped me get back to the stage for my important fashion show the next day with one 30 minutes head and neck treatment. I am so happy!"

Reflexology

"I have been suffering from a stomach disorder causing constipation for quite sometime.  After having tried several types of medication I went along to see Lily who carried out reflexology.  I have had three sessions of reflexology so far and find a noticeable difference with my condition.  Stomach disorder has cleared as has the constipation and I feel so much better!"

Jackie Kidd, PA/Support Officer, University of Leeds, April 2007

"Lily, I would just like to thank you for my recent reflexology sessions which I found very relaxing. I am pleased to say that I also successfully claimed half of the cost back from the Leeds Hospital Fund and am looking forward to returning for some further treatment... (October 2007)

After several months of medication and an increased exercise routine my high blood pressure was still not at an acceptable level, but I am happy to report that now, after including a regime of reflexology and massage therapy, it is within the normal range. Many thanks for your help and I look forward to seeing you again shortly. Very best wishes for 2008!" (January 2008)

Injury Rehabilitation

I have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone who has a sports or general muscular injury!"

Dr. Steven Pickering, Information Systems Services, University of Leeds, August 2007

"I had been suffering with pain in my left shoulder for over seven years and believed it was caused from overtraining in the gym or from a car accident I was involved in. Over the years I had tried physiotherapy, sports injury massage and Thai massage to try sort the problem out but never seemed to feel free of the pain. Finding a practitioner that understood and knew how to fix the problem was not easy and I was beginning to believe that there was some permanent damage to my shoulder area and started to accept the pain I was feeling would be there forever.

As soon as Lily began to work on my shoulder she knew exactly where the problems were and without me having to tell her she knew where the damage was. It turned out I had a whiplash injury and needed both my neck and shoulders treating. After the first treatment my shoulder felt more normal than it had done for years. Lily gave me exercises to do to keep the neck and shoulders loose and said as long as I kept up with them I would only need a few more sessions to be pain free. I have now had four sessions with Lily and am amazed and delighted to have a normal shoulder again, my neck has more movement and my shoulders feel better than ever.

I am now back in training and hoping to keep it up forever as before this treatment I would continually be stopping and starting due to the pain being too much to cope with. I believe Lilys work is the best in its field and would highly recommend anyone with any form of muscular or nerve pain to go and see her. She will now be my first point of call if I ever have any problems in the future and I will go back for regular check ups as I never again want to be in the position I have been in for the last seven years. Many thanks Lily, keep it up, your work is and will be a great benefit to so many people!"

Matthew Davis, uwclub.net, Leeds, October 2007

"The treatment I undertook with Ling was extremely effective. She treated an inflammation I had on my hip-flexor, which had been causing me pain on and off for the last 10 years, after I suffered an injury in that area. Ling quickly identified the cause of the problem and, through a series of massage sessions over 4 weeks’ time, completely removed the pain. I would recommend Direct D-Stress to anyone suffering from soft tissue (muscle/ligament) problems!"

"Dear Lily, I was given a Chinese Massage as a present. As I’d never had a massage before, I did not know what to expect.

However, I found it very relaxing and later found that I could raise my right arm again and even fasten my bra behind my back! I am 80 years old and really appreciate the flexibility achieved and therefore intend to continue with your Chinese Massages!"
